Metromojo is honored to have been selected as a winner in the 2008 Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace flexibility.

Business applications were measured against representative data from Families and Work Institute's National Study of Employers. Metromojo scored in the top 20% when compared with national averages. The Families and Work Institute chose Metromojo as a candidate representing Louisville, KY, one of the 30 communities invited to participate in the When Work Works Initiative for 2008.

From a statement released by Greater Louisville Inc.'s Sam Mannino, Manager, Education and Workforce Development:

Metromojo [...] allows its staff to contribute at home, in the office or at the local coffee shop, using phones, computers and video conferencing when they need to connect. Employees' presence is required only at weekly strategy sessions where staff members set objectives, report on their work and fuel each others energy. "For a small company of only ten employees, we have greater retention, remarkable productivity, fewer sick days and less extended absences than most organizations," says a representative, who also reports "a higher level of dedication than other, perhaps more stifling workplace solutions would encourage."

More About the Sloan Awards:
The Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility is a collaboration with the Alliance for Work-Life Progress, Corporate Voices for Working Families, Boston College Center for Work & Family and The Conference Board's Work-Life Leadership Council.

When Work Works: A Project on Workplace Effectiveness and Workplace Flexibility is part of a larger collaboration with Workplace Flexibility 2010 at Georgetown University Law Center and with funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Collaborating with the Institute for a Competitive Workforce, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Twiga Foundation, the Families and Work Institute developed this national project in order to study and showcase workplace flexibility programs, policies and culture in business.

According to their research, "more and more, businesses are using flexibility and job autonomy as strategic tools for creating workplaces where employees are engaged in, committed to, and satisfied with their jobs." In their findings, the Institute has pointed to a direct correlation between flexibility and productivity, the increase of both contributing to the power of United States companies to compete in a global marketplace.
